Sight Word Cards app guide
Updated 13 September 2026 · Version 3 preview
Release availability
As of 13 September 2026, version 2.9.0 is released and version 3.0.0 is in preparation. This guide describes the v3 feature set; it is not a claim that v3 is already available. Check the App Store for the version, compatibility and price available in your region.
What is Sight Word Cards?
Sight Word Cards is an ad-free English sight word flashcard app for early readers, parents and teachers on iPhone and iPad. The app interface and learning content are English. Translated website pages explain the product; they do not indicate a translated app.
Which words and grades does v3 include?
Version 3 includes 339 unique English words in 17 colour boxes, plus lists from Pre-K through Grade 3 based on US grade levels. It includes the complete Dolch sight word lists and Fry First 100. Words can appear in multiple lists; mastering one updates its progress across those lists.
What is free, and what needs Premium?
All built-in study boxes and grade lists, core flashcards, spoken pronunciation, progress tracking and a limited recorded-voice trial are free. Premium is an optional one-time in-app purchase for unlimited recorded playback with eight voices, configurable quizzes and unlimited custom lists. Prices vary by storefront; use the App Store or the purchase screen for the current local price.
How do voices and quizzes work?
The eight recorded English voices in v3 are Marin, Cedar, Nova, Alloy, Echo, Fable, Coral and Shimmer. Premium quizzes offer 5, 10, 20 or all available questions, giving priority to missed words and words that need more practice.
Which devices work offline?
Version 3 targets iOS and iPadOS 16 or later. Core flashcard practice works offline. Purchases, support messages and Schoolwork services need connectivity. Sight Word Cards is an iPhone and iPad app; this website is not a browser version of the learning app.
Can teachers use Apple Schoolwork?
Schoolwork is an optional beta for schools configured for Schoolwork with Managed Apple Accounts. Enable Settings > For Teachers > Enable Schoolwork Beta on participating devices. Study assignments are available without Premium; quiz assignments require Premium on the learner’s device. End-to-end managed-school workflows are still being evaluated. Analytics can report app-side activity saves and failures, but cannot confirm what a teacher sees in Schoolwork.
What data is used?
Learning progress and custom lists are stored on-device. The app uses limited Firebase analytics and crash diagnostics to improve reliability. When Schoolwork Beta is enabled, activity progress and quiz scores can be reported through Apple Schoolwork to the school. There are no ads. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Where can I get support?
Use the contact form on the official website. For Schoolwork issues, include the app version, iPadOS version and the step that failed; omit student names and assignment content.
